STEPHENVILLE (September 30, 2016) – Hailey Roberts became the second TexAnn in school history to top 1,500 career kills Friday night as the junior lifted Tarleton over Texas A&M-Kingsville in four sets.

In her 11th double-double performance of the season and 50th of her career, Roberts amassed 26 kills on a .339 hitting percentage to improve her career total to 1,514 kills. With 31 more kills, Roberts will tie Desiree Reed (1,545) for the all-time record. The junior from Cedar Park added 11 digs Friday night to bring her career total to 904, which makes her 94 digs away from becoming the fourth TexAnn in school history with 1,000 career kills and 1,000 career digs.

Tarleton fell behind early to open the match before an attack error by the Javelinas turned the tide at 8-12. Tarleton answered the call with three straight kills – one from Roberts and two from McManus – to force a Kingsville timeout at 11-12.

The game stayed tilted in Kingsville’s favor through 18-18 before an Autumn Taylor gave Tarleton its first lead in the match since 3-2. Tarleton scored five of the next nine points to take a 24-22 lead before Roberts put an end to the opening match 25-22.

In the second set, Tarleton was in control from the get-go, building an early lead as large as 15-9. The TexAnns continued to pour it on with six of the next nine, capped off by a kill from McManus, to force a Kingsville timeout at 21-12. After Kingsville pulled within four at 24-20 to force a Tarleton timeout, Roberts stepped up and landed the set-winning kill shot to give the TexAnns the second set 25-20.

After Kingsville came out and took the third set 25-20, Tarleton opened up the fourth game by scoring 15 of the first 22 points to take a 15-7 lead. Kingsville pulled within three before Roberts turned the advantage back to Tarleton at 16-12. The TexAnns ended the match with nine of the final 16 points, capped off with a block from McManus and Mackey on the final play.

Tarleton hit .184 as a team and held the Javelinas to a .119 hitting clip, including a mere .056 in the final game.

Jordyn Keamo joined Roberts with a double-double effort of her own – the fifth straight for the setter from Hawaii. Keamo dished out 43 assists with 10 digs. Adrianna Knutson led the team with 20 digs while McManus finished behind Roberts with nine kills on the night.

Tarleton will hit the road next weekend for a Lone Star Conference trip to Lawton Friday against Cameron at 7 p.m.
