Annual Burger Bash kicks off

HICO (October 8, 2016) – The Hico Memorial Scholarship Foundation is hosting its annual Burger Bash at the Hico City Park. The afternoon event will include the burger competition, a horseshoe tournament, bounce house, live music and a classic car show.

“We raise money through two events each year for our graduating seniors,” foundation president Sherry Schane said. “Last year we gave every graduating senior that applied to the Hico Memorial Scholarship money to go toward their college education.”

Gates open at noon. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for kids ages six through 12. Kids under five are free. The cost will cover a hamburger and a ticket for a chance to win a prize.

Burgers will be served from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Competitors can enter their burger for a $30 fee and can enter the homemade ice cream competition for an extra $10. The categories burgers will be judged on are Best Burger, Hot Mess and Culinary Creative.

The horseshoe tournament will begin at 1:30 p.m. Anyone can register at the tournament. The entry fee is $40 per team or $20 per person.

The Backroad Drifters will play from 2-4 p.m. The Caribbean Cowboys will play from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The Push’n Luck Band will play from 7-9 p.m. Daryl Dodd will finish off the night, performing from 9:30-11 p.m.
