STEPHENVILLE (October 14, 2016) – The Stephenville Music Club held their monthly meeting Wednesday following a ribbon cutting with the Stephenville Chamber of Commerce. The club joined the chamber this year and chamber members were on hand to celebrate the event.
The meeting was led by club president, Larry Parham, and club member, Vicki Keith, presented this week’s program on the music of Keely Smith (born Dorothy Jacqueline Keely, March 9, 1932). Smith is an American jazz and popular music singer who enjoyed popularity in the 1950’s and 1960’s who has collaborated with, among others, Louis Prima and Frank Sinatra.
Keith shared some information on the life and music of Smith and then several of her songs were sang by various members of the club. The members and guests then enjoyed a delicious potluck lunch afterwards.
The club will hold the next meeting at the First United Methodist Church at noon on Thursday, November 10. The program will be the music and life of Connie Francis. and, as usual, visitors and prospective members are welcome to attend.
