STEPHENVILLE (October 15, 2016) – Work continued on the latest Habitat for Humanity house located on Cox Street in Stephenville.
Erath County Habitat for Humanity or ECHH is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.
Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor – “sweat equity” – into building their own homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving fund for HH that is used to build even more houses.
The Habitat for Humanity volunteer work days are Saturdays and volunteers typically work from 8 a.m. until 2 or 3 p.m. A lunch is provided but volunteers are allowed to come and go as they wish, of course.
ECHH is always looking for volunteers to help with construction, provide meals or serve on the Board of Directors or a subcommittee. Contact Lori Hurford (President) at email@example.com to participate in our Christian Housing Ministry.
Erath County Habitat for Humanity is currently accepting applications to become a partner family. If you are interested in applying for a HH house contact them at 254-592-1079.
