STEPHENVILLE (October 21, 2016) — Beginning Monday, Oct. 24, the intersection at St. Peter and Tarleton streets will close as progress continues on Tarleton State University’s utility and infrastructure project.

Traffic entering and exiting residential student lot P16 and commuter student lot P17, both just south of Wisdom Gym and the new Honors Hall, will be diverted via temporary access points from the West Sloan and North Rome street intersection, and Lillian Street. The barricade on Lillian will be removed to allow vehicular access to these lots during this phase of construction, providing an entrance to P16 near the Honors Hall’s south doors.

Lillian St. will be temporarily open beginning Monday, October 24, 2016 while St. Peter St. is closed for construction.

Construction fencing will be placed at the intersection to close off the area to vehicular traffic; however, a pedestrian access will be created to allow a crossing near the St. Peter-Tarleton street intersection just north of the Neebo Bookstore. Signage stating “Road Closed to Through Traffic” will be erected where access is prohibited.

Contractors expect the St. Peter-Tarleton intersection to be closed for approximately three to four weeks as trenching and underground utility work progresses westward along Tarleton Street.

Vehicles still will have access to Lot P30 from St. Peter and Lillian streets.

Parents dropping off children at the university’s Child Development Center (CDC) at the Kinesiology Building complex will access their normal drop-off point from the temporary entrance into Lot P16 from Lillian Street.
