DUBLIN (October 25, 2016) – With Halloween and the Day of the Dead coming up, the Dublin Chamber of Commerce is celebrating with its annual Fall Fiesta at Wright Historical Park from noon to 6 p.m. this Saturday and local residents are invited to come and enjoy the local Hispanic culture.

This year vendors will be selling food and merchandise throughout the park. There will be music, folkloric dancers from Austin, the Mini Truckin’ Explicit Car Club and family-friendly games for all ages. The Fiesta Baby and Fiesta Princesses will be held again this year as well.

New this year will be the Day of the Dead altar decorating contest at the Wright Historical Park. Entries will be accepted until Monday. The entry fee is $30.

“Since we had to reschedule our Fall Fiesta, we decided to incorporate [the Day of the Dead] because it is such a big part of the Hispanic culture,” Dublin Chamber of Commerce president Luanne Schexnider said.

Also new this year will be the “Fiesta Idol” karaoke contest. Anyone interested can sign up at Wright Historical Park that day.

Set up for the Fall Fiesta cook-off will begin at 10 a.m. at the Wright Historical Park. Judging will begin at noon, and winners will be announced at 1 p.m. Participants can enter in one of four categories: fajitas- beef, chicken or pork-, jackpot charro beans, jackpot salsa or jackpot stuffed jalapenos. There is a $50 entry fee for the fajitas and a $10 entry fee for each jackpot category.

Attendees of the Fall Fiesta can participate in the “Taste of Fiesta” competition by buying a $5 tasting bracelet and voting on their favorite foods.

“Any food vendors and the cook off competitors will provide extra food to give out and then we will let the public vote on the best food,” Schexnider said. “It will be the people’s choice award.”

At the Dublin Bottling Works Celebration Park, Safe Trick ‘r Treat will be held from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Kids are invited to come and play games, win prizes and get candy. Kids that dress up can participate in the costume contest. Kids are welcome to trick or treat at any house with its lights on until 9 p.m. that night.

At sunset around 7 p.m., Aaron’s, the Dublin Public Library and Dublin Chamber of Commerce will sponsor an outdoor movie event at the Dublin Public Library. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to watch Goosebumps.

“This is the fourth year for the Fall Fiesta, and every year it grows bigger and we add things and have a lot of fun embracing the Hispanic culture,” Schexnider said. “It’s a great time to collaborate with businesses in Dublin.”
