ERATH COUNTY (October 25, 2016) – Fall festivals, costume contests and safe trick-or-treating are just a small taste of the sweet treats in store for little ghouls and goblins Halloween week.
Just to make it fair for fun seekers of all ages, we’ve included some adult-only entertainment at area bars and saloons… Because you’re never too old for a costume contest or a spooktacular good time.
WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 26
Faith hosts fall carnival
Faith Lutheran Church in Stephenville hosts its annual fall carnival for young children 5:30-7:30 p.m.
The lineup of activities includes games, a bounce house, face painting, a hot dog dinner, and children will be sent home with plenty of candy.
The fun will take place in the Faith Family Center. The church is located at 3000 Northwest Loop, across from McCoy’s Building Supply, in Stephenville.
Admission is $5 per child for unlimited games.
TSU hosts holiday rodeo
It wouldn’t be Halloween in the Cowboy Capital without a costumed rodeo, and the Tarleton State University Rodeo team has it covered.
All participants must wear costumes to compete, and the entry fee is $100. Call-in entries will be accepted 10 a.m. 2 p.m. Tuesday at 254-968-9344.
The event will be held 7-10 p.m. at Lone Star Arena.
Admission is $5 for spectators. Children ages 12 and under will get in free of charge.
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 27
Tarleton invites trick-or-treaters to campus
Head over to Tarleton State University’s Heritage Park, where various organizations host a Halloween carnival that’s open to the public. Games and activities will entertain children from 5 until 8 p.m.
Bundles of 20 tickets will be sold for $5.
Meanwhile, candy seekers can enjoy Halloween in Hunewell Hall, which is located across from Heritage Park and the Tarleton Bandstand. Residents will pass out candy to trick-or-treaters.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28
Agave holds Monster Mash
Games, bounce houses, cookies, candy, goody bags and music will keep kids entertained at the Agave from 5 until 10 p.m.
Kids can also eat free with the purchase of any entrée.
PT’s Primetime Nightclub holds two nights of fun
Be a part of two nights of outrageous Halloween antics at PT’s.
Friday will include games, a Hot Leggs Contest, dancing and spooky drink specials. Saturday will include more dancing, drinks and the annual costume contest.
PT’s is located at 1400 West Swan Street on the Columns Apartments complex.
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 29
Animal advocates host tail-wagging fun
P.A.W.S. (Pets are Worth Saving) and Cornerstone Animal Hospital host their second annual Halloween Pet Costume Contest, inviting community members to bring their pets dressed up and ready for fun.
First, second and third place awards will be given to the best in the pack.
Lunch, candy and pet treats will be served.
Donations will be accepted for P.A.W.S.
The tail-wagging good time will take place at the animal hospital, located at 1259 West Lingleville Road in Stephenville.
Fall Fiesta celebrates Hispanic culture
Dublin Chamber of Commerce presents a celebration of Hispanic culture at Wright Historical Park, located in the 100 block of South Park Street.
The event will include music, games, vendors, a Dia de los Muertos exhibit, folkloric dancers, a car show, food tasting, cook-off and more.
The event will be held from noon until 6 p.m.
Dublin Public Library will host an outdoor movie beginning at sunset.
Dublin holds Safe Trick ‘R Treat
Costumed children are invited to enjoy a safe alternative to trick-or-treating from 3 p.m. until 4:30 at Dublin Bottling Works Celebration Park.
Tattoo shop hosts bash
Electric Ink Tattoo Studio hosts its Electrifying Halloween Party 9 p.m. until close at Rockin’ P in downtown Stephenville.
Prizes will be awarded for the best male and female costumes, with first place winners receiving a $200 tattoo, second place getting a $150 tattoo and third place receiving $75 in work.
There’s no cover charge, and there will be drink specials, including some freebies, all night.
Inkers have ball at Bull Nettle
Bull Nettle will host AJ’s Ink and Texan Tattoo for the inkers annual Halloween hoopla. The festivities include a costume contest and door prizes.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30
Cemetery walk honors history
Local actors outfitted in period costumes tell the stories of some of Erath County’s historical figures. Tours will begin at 2 and 3:30 p.m. at West End Cemetery.
Tickets are $5 at the event. Proceeds benefit the Stephenville Historical House Museum and the Friends of the Dick Smith Library.
MONDAY, OCTOBER 31
Chamber hosts annual Safe Trick ‘R Treat
Stephenville Chamber of Commerce invites you to pack up the kiddos and head over to the downtown square for Safe Trick ‘R Treat with treat stations set up at businesses and along sidewalks.
A fun zone will keep kids entertained with games, and the whole shebang is free and open to the public.
A costume contest will award five prizes – for the funniest, cutest, scariest, most creative and best homemade costumes – in each age group.
It all happens 5-7 p.m. on Halloween day. The costume contest lineup begins at 5:45 p.m. and judging will start at 6.
Harbin VFD hosts festival
Harbin Volunteer Fire Hall opens its doors for a Halloween and fall festival 6-9 p.m.
Guest will enjoy hot dogs, chips, cookies, candy, games and hay rides.
The event was organized for the Harbin community to show thanks for the supporting the fire department.
