STEPHENVILLE (October 26, 2016) – The TexAnn Basketball team was picked fourth in the annual Lone Star Conference preseason poll that was released by league as a part of Online Media Day Wednesday afternoon.

The TexAnns earned 238 total votes, which was 19 votes behind Texas Woman’s (257) for third place in the poll. West Texas A&M finished atop the poll with 312 total and 16 first-place votes while Angelo State came in second with 311 total and 13 first-place votes.

“It’s right where I expected us to be,” said Tarleton head coach Misty Wilson. “I don’t think any coach, whether they’re picked No. 1 or No. 11 in the conference, don’t pay attention to those because they’re just preseason opinions.”

“We definitely use that as motivation,” said senior Ikpeaku Iwobi. “Every year, right before the season starts, Coach Wilson will break out the polls and let us think about it.”
