STEPHENVILLE (November 4, 2016) – Tarleton made quick work of Midwestern State with a sweep (25-17, 25-14, 25-15) over the Mustangs on Friday at the Wisdom Volleyball Gym.

The TexAnns improve to 21-5 and remain in sole possession of second place in the Lone Star Conference with a 13-4 league record. The 13 conference wins for the TexAnns is tied for the second most in school history.

Tarleton hit .337 on the game and limited Midwestern State to a .179 mark in the one-sided match. The TexAnns also only had 11 errors in the match.

In the opening set, Tarleton and Midwestern State split the first 20 points before the TexAnns went on a 4-0 run behind kills from Hailey Roberts and Elizabeth Muliaga and back-to-back aces from Rebecca Schlorff. The Mustangs got to within 19-16 when the TexAnns went on a 6-1 stretch with a pair of kills from Autumn Taylor and three kills from Roberts to close out the set.

Taylor and Alexis Applewhite put Tarleton out in front 8-5 early in the second set behind a 4-0 run and the TexAnns never trailed again in the second. Hannah McManus delivered with a pair of kills for a 13-8 advantage. McManus finished with seven kills on a .500 hitting percentage. Tarleton capitalized on three Midwestern errors followed by an ace from Keamo and a kill from Muliaga to build a 5-0 run and a 21-12 lead. Applewhite poured in one of her eight kills in the match for the final point of the set to cap off another 4-0 run that gave Tarleton the commanding 2-0 lead.

In the final frame, Tarleton held a slim lead at 15-14 but the TexAnns dominated the back half of the third set with a 9-0 run that was highlighted by kills from Taylor, Applewhite, McManus and Kassidy McMabe while Adrianna Knutson had eight digs and two aces during the stretch.

Roberts posted a game-high 13 kills and 14 digs for the double-double. Autumn Taylor reached double-digit kills with 10, giving the senior her seventh game of 10 or more kills this season. Jordyn Keamo totaled 35 assists for her 23rd game of at least 30 assists. The TexAnns had 11 aces in the three sets, which is the second most aces this season. Keamo had a match-best four aces, while Knutson provided three and Alissa Johnson and Schlorff each had two.

Defensively, three TexAnns had double-digit digs with Knutson matching Roberts with a game-high 14 digs. Jordyn Keamo provided a dozen digs for the double-double. Applewhite had a team-high two blocks while McManus and Muliaga each had a block.

Tarleton will host Cameron on Saturday, Nov. 5 at noon for senior day and the final home game of the season.
