SPECIAL TO THE FLASH

STEPHENVILLE (November 21, 2016) – Lone Star Arena, a long-time cornerstone of the Stephenville community, is for sale and continues to host shows.

“We initially bought the arena because we knew how important it was for the local community to have a facility like this available for use,” said owner Nicolle Boyd. “Stephenville is the ‘Cowboy Capital of the World’ and this arena is an integral part of that identity. We understand the important positive economic impact it brings to our town and we will continue to hold events until the arena has a new owner.”

Nicolle and Brad Boyd purchased the arena in 2012. The privately owned arena was renamed La Tierra de Los Vaqueros (Land of the Cowboys), although it has continued to be called by its historical name Lone Star. The Boyds have made numerous renovations and infrastructure improvements at the facility over the last four years and Tommy Graham was brought aboard as Arena Manager. Graham was previously the manager of the legendary Lazy E Arena in Oklahoma.

“We realize new owners may want to upgrade or improve more things, but this is a fully-functioning arena and is turnkey and ready to go,” said Boyd. “It has a long history and some of the greatest names in rodeo today have competed under its roof. We can’t thank these athletes enough, but the real heroes we want to thank are the community and our friends and family who have been supportive of the arena over the years.”

Under the ownership of the Boyds, Lone Star Arena reached new milestones including being repeatedly voted one of the PRCA’s Top 5 rodeo venues in the country.

Lone Star Arena has been an integral part of the sustained growth of the rodeo and equine community in the Stephenville area. Utilized by Tarleton State University, PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association), ABBI (American Bucking Bull Inc.), PBR (Professional Bull Riders) and numerous other organizations, including those of Erath County and the City of Stephenville, Lone Star is the largest arena serving the community. Also it has a private club and concession stand/kitchen on-site.

Events on the schedule for 2017 already include the World Series Team Roping, Cowboy Capital Classic USTRC Team Roping, Ultimate Calf Roping, PRCA Rodeo, TSU Rodeo, Barrel Racing, and the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance Spring Fling show held over Easter weekend brings PBR and ABBI to town for the annual event.
