STEPHENVILLE (November 23, 2016) – The hustle and bustle of the holiday season is here, and a local organization is selling chances for a holiday giveaway that will make decorating easy for one lucky winner.

Cross Timbers Family Services (CTFS) is hosting its second annual decorated Christmas tree and wreath raffle. Tickets are on sale now, and the drawing will be held Wednesday, November 30, according to CTFS Executive Director Jodee Lucero.

The winner of the raffle will receive a beautifully decorated Christmas tree, which is on display at TexasBank in Stephenville, and coordinating wreath. The fully-decorated silver slim tree stands seven feet tall, the wreath is 26 inches, and decorations and decorating services have been donated by Carrie Scott Pack and University Flowers.

“After the drawing is held on the 30th, Carrie will take down the tree, transport it to the winner’s home – or location of choice – and redecorate it on site,” Lucero said, adding the winner has the option to have the tree sent to the home or office of a friend, family member or loved one as an early holiday gift.

Tickets are being sold at the new CTFS office, located at 241 East McNeill Street in Stephenville. They can also be purchased at TexasBank or online.

If the winning ticket is purchased by someone living outside of the immediate area, Lucero said arrangements will be made to have the tree, wreath and decorations delivered. The winner would be responsible for decorating the tree.

To purchase tickets online, select the fundraising tab on the CTFS website. Payment is made through PayPal, where Lucero said the ticket purchaser should include their name, number of tickets, phone number and email address in the message section of the payment screen.

Tickets are $10 each, and the prize package is valued at $1,000.

CTFS is a nonprofit organization that provides assistance to community members whose lives have been impacted by violent crime, such as domestic violence, child abuse and sexual assault.

Lucero said during the recent relocation of CTFS headquarters to a new building constructed by Rick Hale, a number of required expenses, including a secure entrance and updated telephone system, were incurred that were not included in the budget. To help offset those costs, she hopes to see widespread participation the annual Christmas tree raffle.

“Rick did a great job on the facility, which provides our clients with a larger and more secure space,” Lucero said. “It was something we needed to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the victims we serve. There are now a number of safeguards in place that we were not previously able to offer.”

The office is now within close proximity of the Donald R. Jones Justice Center, where legal matters related to the crimes against them are handled. Lucero said the new location allows clients to have a respite from legal proceedings and also puts CTFS advocates and case workers in a more accessible location.

Financial assistance also helps the organization provide victims assistance in establishing a new residence as needed to ensure their safety and well-being and allows CTFS to provide emergency food and shelter, transportation to and from court proceedings and crime-related medical care.

In addition to participating in the fundraiser, Lucero said community members can made donations to help shine a light in the lives of children served by CTFS at Christmastime. She said donors can stuff stockings with coloring books, cars, dolls and other toys and drop them off at the CTFS office prior to the holiday.
