(October 19, 1945—November 24, 2016)

Betty Lou Chaffin, 71, of Stephenville, passed away, after a brief but courageous battle with lung cancer, Thursday, November 24, 2016 at her home surrounded by her family.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 27, 2016 at West End Cemetery in Stephenville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Stephenville Funeral Home.

Betty was born on October 19, 1945 in Tuckerman, Arkansas to Bernard Newton and Lou Marie Mitts Hardin. Betty has resided in Stephenville since 2000 after living for many years in Springfield, Missouri and Mission, Texas. She grew up in the Pentecostal church, but has been attending First Baptist Church of Stephenville. Betty was a homemaker.

Betty was survived by daughters, Shelly Spruill and husband Calvin of Comanche, Julie Harris and husband Josh of Stephenville, and Gina Rae Reeves and fiancé Rick Tennyson of Stephenville; son, Jeff Chaffin and wife Tiffany of Cypress; grandchildren, Sean, Ryan, Ashley, Chandler, Rylie, Aidan, Ethan, Addison, Emmalyn, and Gunner; great grandchildren, Hunter and Chloe; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Besides her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her siblings, Frances Merlene Benson, Wilma Maxine Scobee, James Wilburn Hardin, and Jerry Lee Hardin.
