STEPHENVILLE (December 13, 2016) — Three days after winning its first tournament championship in two seasons and one day after moving back into the top 10 in the TABC 4A girls poll, Stephenville opened 8-4A district play with a win.

The No. 9 Honeybees set the tone early and were on cruise control throughout much of a 50-37 win at Waxahachie Life Tuesday evening. They break from district action Friday and host 3A power Jim Ned.

Jayci Morton led Stephenville with 14 points, while Payton Wall and Ebony Green each netted 11. Hailey Martin added seven, Blair Landes three, Liz Pack two and Tess Baker two.

It was the sixth straight win for the Honeybees, the previous five earning them the championship in Midlothian Heritage’s tournament last weekend. It was the first time the Bees won a tournament since rolling through one in Glen Rose in December of 2014.
