(December 18, 2016) — Romond Jenkins doubled up inside and Tarleton State knocked down 12 of 20 from the arc in a 88-63 rout of Simon Fraser in the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic at Las Vegas’ South Point Hotel & Casino Sunday.

Jenkins posted 18 points and 14 rebounds, bolstering his double-double average on the season and helping the No. 15 Texans (10-1) outscore Simon Fraser (2-7) 40-10 in the paint. The Texans also held an advantage of 30-3 in points off turnovers.

Tarleton, winner of seven straight, shot 57 percent from the floor and 60 percent from the arc. Ridell Camidge hit four 3-pointers and scored 16 points while Deshawn Riddick and Chantz Chambers each connected on three from deep and scored 15 and 13, respectively. It was the fourth straight game in which Tarleton hit 10 or more 3-pointers, a feat not achieved since the 2013-14 season.

Simon Fraser, an NCAA Division II and Great Northwest Athletic Conference member in British Columbia, Canada, shot 43 percent and was 14-31 from the arc. Michael Provenzano scored 16 to lead the Clan in the first-ever meeting between the schools.

Tarleton has a tougher test on Monday when the Texans face off with No. 12 Western Washington at Dolittle Community Center, also in Las Vegas, at 10 p.m. CST. WWU suffered its first loss on Sunday, 90-83 to Lone Star Conference member West Texas A&M, which improved to 13-1 on the season.
