STEPHENVILLE (December 23, 2016) — With Christmas Day falling on a Sunday, many offices will be closed Monday, allowing employees time with family. Here’s a look at where you can and can’t do business over through the weekend and into next week.

Government, other offices:

City and county offices, including libraries, Stephenville Parks and Recreation Department and motor vehicle registration and tax offices, will be closed Friday through Monday and reopen to normal business hours Tuesday, December 27.

Stephenville Chamber of Commerce will observe the same schedule.

Bank and post offices will also be closed Monday in observance of the holiday.

Garage collection is expected to run on its normal schedule, but operations may run slower than usual due to the increase in waste during the holiday.

Shopping:

A number of Stephenville retails will be open Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but have an amended operating schedule, but The Flash reached out to some shopping hotspots to get information on shopping times.

Walmart will be open Saturday, but close at 6 p.m. The retailer will remain closed Christmas Day and reopen at 5 a.m. Monday.

H-E-B will remain open until 8 p.m. Saturday and reopen at 6 a.m. on Monday.

Brookshire Brothers in Dublin closes at 7 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

Walgreens will be open from 8 a.m. until midnight Christmas Eve and 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. Christmas Day.

CVS Pharmacy will be open normal store hours, from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m. Saturday and will be open until 8 p.m. Christmas Day. At the time of this report, Friday morning, CVS staffers were unsure the store would open at 8 a.m. or 10 a.m. Sunday morning.

Other:

Erath County Humane Society, will maintain its regular weekend schedule, being closed both Saturday and Sunday but will remain closed to the public on Monday. Shelter staff will be on hand to care for the animals and facility and will also check messages regularly to help ensure any four-legged family members who’ve been lost and found are returned to their homes.

ECHS will resume normal business hours on Tuesday. The facility is open 1-5 p.m. on weekdays.

If you’re in search of a hot meal on Christmas Day and want to skip the hassle of cooking and cleanup, Jake & Dorothy’s Café in Stephenville will maintain its tradition of being open and serving its regular menu items – including that famous chicken fried steak – beginning at 5 p.m.

The Flash offices will be closed through Monday, but we will stay connected to informational sources and share news throughout the holiday weekend. News tips can be left on the Facebook page or emailing news@theflash.today
