E. Raymond ‘Tog’ Carpenter

E. Raymond ‘Tog’ Carpenter, 105, of Selden, died Saturday, December 31, 2016, in Stephenville.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 7th at Stephenville Funeral Home with burial to follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to services at Stephenville Funeral Home.

Raymond was born on May 21, 1911 in the Rocky Point Community in Erath County to the late James Washington and Ada Jeanetta Hiltebrand Carpenter. He married Marie Elizabeth Waugh on October 21, 1934 in Stephenville. She preceded him in death on March 22, 1998. Tog was a member of the Selden Baptist Church, and a lifelong resident of Erath County. His 105 years covered him as a farmer/rancher, garage and spring shop owner, carpenter and cabinet builder, grocery store owner, and an operator of the Stephenville bus station. Into his 100 years he was still a very active individual.

Tog is survived by his sons, Norman and wife Myrna Carpenter of Hico, Charles and wife Pat Carpenter of Granbury, Royce and wife Karen Carpenter of Stephenville; daughter, Dorothy Farrar of Stephenville; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews

Besides his parents, and wife, Tog is also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Clarence Farrar, sisters, Lena Humberson, and Violet Williams; and brothers, E. A. ‘Fritz’ Carpenter, Delbert (Clyde) Carpenter, and Clarence Claude Carpenter.

The Carpenter family wishes expression of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the Selden Baptist Church or the Stephenville Senior Citizens Center.
