STEPHENVILLE (January 7, 2017) – The Tree House After School Program, offered by the First United Methodist Church of Stephenville, gives working parents an alternative to having their young children home alone after school.
The Tree House program, located next to the First United Methodist Church at 422 W. Washington Street, is made available to children from kindergarten through the fourth grade. Most of the financial support for the Tree House After School Program comes from the United Way, but additional funds have to be used to sustain the program. Donations are welcome. You can contact the church office at 254-965-5046 to find out how you can help.
The mission of the Tree House After School Program is to provide after-school supervision for the elementary-age children of working parents, in order to promote school achievement and good citizenship.
This program allows for eligible children to be picked up at Central Elementary School at the completion of the school day. They are then driven to Tree House and provided with a healthy snack, homework assistance, tutoring and fun activities to participate in. The Tree House follows the Stephenville ISD calendar and is open from 3 to 5:30 p.m. on school days.
To qualify for the Tree House program, children must receive free or reduced price lunches through the public school system and have working parents. This service is free to qualifying families.
