Jr. NBA Skills Challenge winners headed to Duncanville

STEPHENVILLE (January 23, 2017) – Stephenville Parks & Recreation Department hosted a Jr. NBA Skills Challenge at the SPARD Gym on Saturday.  There were four divisions of competition that tested ball handling and shooting skills.  The divisions are 12u Boys, 12u Girls, 13-14 Boys, and 13-14 Girls.  A total of 40 area youth participated in the competition. Top three finishers from each division get to advance to the Dallas Regional Competition in Duncanville on Sunday, March 12, 2017.  Eventually, the top 20 National Finalists will get to advance to the National Finals in New York City in June 2017.  Hawk Scott of SPARD said that he was quite pleased with the turnout since this was the first year that Stephenville has ever held this event.  He said that the plans are to hold the competition again next year.

Division winners are:

12u Boys, L to R: Bronc Berry (1st), Haiden Rudloff (2nd), and Gunner Stone (3rd).

12u Girls, L to R: Audrey Brandon (1st), Hayden Walker (2nd), and Avery Johnson (3rd).

13-14 Boys, L to R: Hunter Rudloff (1st), Dylan Blanken (2nd), and Remington Back (3rd).

13-14 Girls, L to R: Destiny Cook (1st), and Tiffany Meador (2nd).
