Stephenville visits Godley for share of district title on Tuesday

STEPHENVILLE (February 3, 2017) — Stephenville scored more points in the second quarter than Alvarado did in the first half, and the No. 10 Honeybees were in control the rest of the way in a 45-20 win in 8-4A district play at Gandy Gym Friday.

:The Bees led 27-14 by halftime, also scoring more points in the first half than Alvarado did in the game. Stephenville had already locked up a top two finish in 8-4A. Alvarado will miss the playoffs behind Godley, Stephenville, Glen Rose and Midlothian Heritage.

Stephenville can still split the district title, but it would take an upset of No. 4 Godley on the road Tuesday. Tipoff in each team’s final regular season contest is set for 6:30 p.m.

Jayci Morton led Stephenville with 12 points Friday. The versatile sophomore did all her scoring in the second and third quarters, and she was joined in double figurers by junior Payton Wall with 10.

Other scorers for the Bees were Liz Pack with six, Ebony Green five, Tess Baker four, Blair Landes four, Madison Carter three and Jordan Carter one.
