STEPHENVILLE (February 7, 2017) – Nothing was said about the Eastside Sewer Project at Stephenville City Council’s Tuesday meeting.

Three items related to the renovation and expansion of the city’s sewer system were on the meeting’s agenda, and all but one council member voted to table to allow for further discussion.

Hours after speaking with The Flash about concerns that the council had not been given enough information to approve expenses in excess of $300,000, council member Carla Trussell made an immediate request to table the discussion.

As Mayor Kenny Weldon began to introduce the agenda items, Trussell asked if she could make the motion and repeated the request after she did not receive an immediate response. The motion was seconded by council member Sherry Zachary and gained the favor of all council members except Alan Nix, who serves as chair of the Public Works Committee.

Memos related to the agenda items from Public Works Director Nick Williams and Finance Director Monica Harris related to requests for approval for the city to enter into contracts for project management services related easement acquisition and environmental assessment, bond counsel services and financial advisory services.

For more information on Trussell’s concerns and comments from council members Doug Svien and Rhett Harrison, read a story published by The Flash prior to the meeting.
