Betty dedicated her entire life to her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She was the firstborn child of Ralph and Veda Grimsley, born on April 30, 1929, in Lamont, OK. She was raised on the family farm near Deer Creek and Blackwell, OK and graduated high school top of her class in 1947. Betty married Charles Herbert Nugen on May 7, 1948 and together they worked and raised two sons, Gary Duane and Lloyd Warren. In 1961, the Nugen family moved to Fort Worth and Charles and Betty watched their family grow as their sons married and they were blessed with three grandchildren. Betty and Charles, “Gramps and Grandma”, enjoyed many activities but especially loved family gatherings, and Betty was known for being a gracious hostess and her amazing home-cooked meals. In 1993, Charles retired after 34 years from an agri-business company and Betty and Charles enjoyed traveling together until 2006, when Charles passed away. Our beloved Gramps and Grandma are now together again but will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved them.
Betty is survived by her eldest son; Gary Nugen, and wife Gail, and her youngest son, Lloyd Nugen, and wife Pattie. She is survived by three grandchildren; Chip Nugen and wife Crissa, Will Nugen and wife Heather, Wendy Valenta and husband Thomas, and seven great-grandchildren; Kristin Anderson and husband Dylan, Cole Nugen, Tristin, Hannah and Tanner Nugen, and Coral and Becker Valenta. Betty is also survived by all her siblings, Twila Bersche and husband Duane, Dorothy Brown, Leroy Grimsley and wife Norma, and also many beloved nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Veda Burford Grimsley; husband, Charles Nugen; and brother-in-law, Jerry Brown.
The family requests that memorials be made to either the Rathgeber Hospitality House, 1615 12th St. Wichita Falls, TX 76301or Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Rd., Wichita Falls, TX, 76310.
