(February 27, 2017) — Brady Moore was the best player in 6-3A.

Dublin was the best team.,

Moore was named MVP of the district in a vote of head coaches. The senior highlights five special honors or first-team selections for the Lions, who captured their first district championship since 2012 in just their second year under head coach Will Parker.

Junior Rayce Jackson was named offensive player of the year, and as a junior will be one of the league’s most decorated players entering next season.

First team selections from Dublin include seniors Gabe Garcia and Brayden Burleson and junior Josh Hanes. On the second team is junior Lion Tim Teten. Dublin also has honorable-mention all-district picks in seniors Elton Galbreath and Trask Brown and junior Jeremiah Martinez.

The district championship race came down to the final game of the 6-3A season, with Dublin edging Coleman on the road, 69-65, to clinch the title. The Lions went on to beat Merkel, 73-70, in bi-district, before falling to Peaaster, 72-60, in a Region I-3A area playoff last Friday in Granbury.
