ALLEN – Tarleton women’s basketball players Bailey Wipff and Mackenzie Hailey were recognized by the Lone Star Conference at the annual awards banquet.

Wipff was named the LSC Academic Player of the Year and also named second-team All-LSC for the second straight season. In her first year with the TexAnns, Hailey received second-team All-LSC honors as well as the LSC Newcomer of the Year and LSC All-Defensive Team.

Wipff is now the third player in TexAnn history to be named LSC Academic Player of the Year, joining Iveta Griffin and Shelby Adamson (twice). Wipff was second on the TexAnns in scoring at 14 points per game and the senior guard has 939 points for her career. Wipff became the third player in Tarleton women’s basketball history to connect on over 150 3-pointers in her career and led the team with 53 3-pointers this season. In addition to her 14 points per game, Wipff also averages 3.0 rebounds per game and 2.3 assists while shooting 41 percent from the floor, 36 percent on 3-pointers and 87 percent at the free-throw line. Wipff ranks ninth in the LSC in scoring and was named LSC Offensive Player of the Week back on February 13.

Hailey becomes the fifth player in program history to be named LSC Newcomer of the Year and the first player to do so since Kathy Thomas in 2013-14. Hailey led the TexAnns with 15.7 points per game and grabbed a team-best 8.4 rebounds per game. Hailey also averages 1.9 steals and a block per contest, as both are team highs. Hailey’s 12 double-doubles this season are the most on the team as the sophomore from Burleson also named the LSC Offensive Player of the Week back on January 9.

Wipff and Hailey become the 20th and 21st players in program history to be selected second-team All-LSC.

The TexAnns will compete in the LSC Tournament as the No. 5 seed when they take on No. 4 Texas A&M-Commerce on Friday, March 3 at 6 p.m. at the Allen Event Center.
