LINGLEVILLE (April 27, 2017) – Difficult times – and the banding together of community members in the worst of circumstances – are the ties that bind. Such is the case in Lingleville, where a difficult month began with an automobile accident involving three youth on April 1.

Aubrey Kellar, 17, Randi Williams, 15, and Sunny Armstrong, 16, have since been released from the hospital, but will not likely return to full-time studies during the current school year, according to Pastor Ryan Hurt with Lingleville Baptist Church.

But, the young women who were active in Lingleville ISD and extracurricular activities, have returned to the community they know and love, which has enveloped their families is prayers and support.

From t-shirt, pizza and bake sales to car washes and more, students, parents and fellow parishioners have held a lineup of fundraising activities throughout the month with the goal of helping the families cope with ongoing treatment and recovery expenses.

“We are just wanting to love up on families,” Pastor Hurt said. “We want to send them as much love and support as we can.”

The next efforts take place this weekend, culminating with an event hosted by Lingleville Baptist Church on Sunday.

Pastor Hurt said the event will include a fundraising dinner featuring brisket and all the fixing for $10 per plate beginning at 4 p.m. and live and silent auctions.

“All of the proceeds from the event will be divided equally among the three families,” Pastor Hurt said.

To help, auction items will be collected through Sunday, and donations can be delivered to the church, located at 21543 N FM 219 in Lingleville.

Supporters already have a list of items to bid on, including a new over-under shotgun, seven-day trip to New Mexico, gun cabinet and much more.

Raffle tickets are also being sold for chances at four firearms – an AR-15, a 9mm conceal-carry pistol, Browning A-Bolt 300 Winchester Magnum and a Henry Golden Boy .22 Lever-Action Rifle. Raffle tickets can be purchased on premises or from a church member.

Hurt said individuals who aren’t able to attend the fundraiser but would like to make a financial contribution can mail check or money order payable to Lingleville Baptist Church to P.O. Box 170, Lingleville, Texas 76461.

The church has established a separate account for the families and donors should write “accident victim fundraiser” on their memo/account line of the check or money order.

Meanwhile, Pastor Hurt invites fundraiser attendees and others to attend a special worship service after the auction to give thanks for life’s blessings.

“We pray for a lot of things,” Hurt said. “But we do not always thank the Lord for all he does. We would like to spend some time on gratitude through with night of music and worship beginning at 8 p.m..”

In a separate effort, Christian & Vestal Show Cattle will sell a black Angus bull calf at 11 a.m. Friday at the Dublin Livestock Auction.

“We hope the calf will sell a number of times,” Mike Christian said in a Facebook post. “We will also pass a hat for others who wish to contribute. A bank account set up at First Financial in Stephenville for those wishing to donate.”
