STEPHENVILLE (April 28, 2017) — Caleb Gibbons drove in three runs and earned the win on the mound as Stephenville held off Glen Rose 4-3 in a 8-4A district baseball finale Friday.

The Yellow Jackets (18-7-2) already know their playoff opponent as they get Kennedale next week in a Region I-4A bi-district series.  Game one is 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 5, at Stephenville, game two at 2 p.m. Saturday in Kennedale and game three, if needed, 30 minutes following game two.

The Yellow Jackets survived five errors on an evening when both teams had just five hits at James T. Young Field.

Stephenville scored three times in the first to lead throughout. It was 4-1 after three and the Jackets ended a comeback effort that produced two Tiger runs in the sixth.

Cody Storrs was 2-for-3 from the plate, the only Jacket with more than one hit. Gibbons worked the first three innings on the mound, striking out four while allowing just an unearned run on a hit and a walk. It was a committee effort the rest of the way with Luke Bullard striking out two in two innings, Caleb Gibbons striking out one and allowing two runs – one earned – on three hits in an inning and Easton Jones struck out two and allowed a hit in an inning.
