STEPHENVILLE (May 3, 2017) – The top eight teams in the NCAA regional rankings remain unchanged after a week of action and the Texans remain at No. 6 in the south central poll.

Tarleton boasts a record of 28-20 overall with an 11-12 mark in Lone Star Conference play after taking three of four from Cameron in Stephenville last weekend. The Texans remain on the bubble of a Lone Star Conference Tournament berth as the rest of the league wraps up the regular season this weekend.

Tarleton also heads into the final week of the regular season ranked No. 19 in the nation in the HEROSports.com national computer rankings, which ranks every NCAA Division II team based on mathematical calculations.

Angelo State remains at the top of the regional poll while Colorado Mesa (RMAC) and Lubbock Christian (Heartland) are close behind at No. 2 and 3, respectively. A trio of Lone Star Conference schools round out the top six of the rankings with West Texas A&M, Texas A&M-Kingsville, and Tarleton in that order. Arkansas-Fort Smith and St. Edward’s round out the top eight at No. 7 and 8, respectively.

The NCAA regional baseball tournament consists of six teams, comprised of the tournament champions from the Lone Star, Heartland, and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, as well as three at-large bid teams. The regional tournament will take place at the top-seed institution.

The official announcement of the national playoff contenders will take place on Sunday, May 14 at 9 p.m. CST on NCAA.com.
