Wild, Prados named all-region in women’s golf

STEPHENVILLE – Casey Wild and Beatriz Prados were selected to the Women’s Golf Coaches Association NCAA Division II All-Region team.

The All-Region teams consist of the top 10 players in each region and are selected by the WGCA Division II Awards Committee.

Wild was named the Lone Star Conference Player of the Year and is ranked No. 7 in the nation with a 73.83 scoring average, according to golfstat.com. Wild has finished in the top 20 in 10 tournaments and has eight top 10 finishes. Wild won the Lone Star Conference tournament for her only win of the season. Wild finished second at the NCAA Regional Tournament to advance to the NCAA Championships on May 17-20 in Findlay, Ohio. It’s the second straight season Wild has been named to the All-Region team.

Prados, like Wild, is now a two-time All-Region selection. Prados is ranked No. 32 in the nation with a 75.56 scoring average. Prados had eight top 20 finishes and placed in the top 10 four times. Prados was also a first-team All-Lone Star Conference selection for the third straight season to end her Tarleton career.

The Women’s Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women’s collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition. Today, the WGCA represents over 600 coaches throughout the U.S. and is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing both its members and the student-athletes they represent.
