STEPHENVILLE (May 16, 2017) – In addition to honoring the 4A Theatre State Champs, the Stephenville City Council also canvassed the election, swore in the council members who were reelected and discussed hiring internal candidate Staci King for the city secretary position.

According to Mayor Kenny Weldon, the council went into executive session and looked at her application and references and will see her for a full interview next week when all the council can be present.

The position of Stephenville City Secretary is currently held by Cindy Stafford who has held the post for 30 years. She recently announced she will be retiring and the city has been in the process of looking for a replacement.

Weldon and the council also honored the Stephenville High School students who worked together to win the 4A Theatre State Championship by approving a proclamation and giving them a key to the city.

Council members also held a public hearing for the rezoning of two lots in the 300 block of Park from industrial to multi-family residential. According to Jeremy Allen, the area around the lots are multi-family or industrial and he recommended the council zone the lots the same as surrounding lots. The council unanimously approved the request.
