BRADENTON, Florida – Chantz Chambers competed in the long jump for the Texans at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships at IMG Academy.

“Chantz strained his hamstring on the first jump,” said head coach Pat Ponder. “He tried to push through it. He is a great competitor and I know this is not how he wanted to finish the season. I am proud of how hard he worked all season to get to this point.”

Chambers finished fifteenth with a jump of 17′ 6.75″ (5.35m). The senior from Shreveport, La. is one of two Tarleton Track & Field athletes who qualified for the NCAA championships. Chambers, a USTFCCCA all-region selection, qualified for nationals by jumping a career best 24′ 9.25″ (7.55m) at the ASU David Noble Relays.

Rascellis Williams will represent Tarleton in the high jump at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
