STEPHENVILLE (May 29, 2017) — Los Angeles Rams free safety Cody Davis is again planning a one-day football camp for youth in his hometown.

Davis, a 2008 graduate of Stephenville High School, will welcome at least 150 local youth to his fourth annual Student of the Game youth football camp presented by Bruner Auto Family from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m, on Saturday, June 24 at the Mike Copeland Athletic Complex and adjacent practice fields at SHS.

The camp is free and open to any youth entering grades 1-6, regardless where they live or attend  school.

Davis once roamed those facilities as an all-state defensive back for the Yellow Jackets, helping them to the state semifinals in 2005 and to the No. 1 spot in the Associated Press 4A poll for several weeks in 2007.

When he left Stephenville, Davis played at Texas Tech, where he earned a spot in the starting line up and performed well enough to sign a free agent deal with the Rams after not being selected in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Davis was with the team three seasons in St. Louis, playing in a combined 43 games, mostly on special teams. The Rams returned to Los Angeles in 2016 and Davis started in three games while seeing action in 15. He intercepted his first pass last fall, and registered career highs with 14 tackles and three passes defensed.

Each year following his rookie season, Davis has returned to a hero’s welcome in Stephenville, signing autographs for bright-eyed youngsters, sitting down for live radios in front of audiences at Bruner Motors and of course, teaching the fundamentals of the sport he loves.

The camp has included instructors from the coaching staffs at Stephenville, Dublin and a number of other schools in past years. The instructor pool is largely comprised of Davis’ high school coaches and his high school or college teammates who have become coaches.

The simple registration process can be completed online here. As of the morning of May 29, only 80 of the 150 pre-registration spots remain available. Walk-up registration is available, but only pre-registered youth are guaranteed a camp t-shirt and other items. A paper registration form is also available at the three Bruner Auto Family dealerships along the South Loop in Stephenville.
