STEPHENVILLE (July 15, 2017)  – Tarleton’s football game at Texas A&M-Kingsville on October 21 has been selected as one of 18 regular season games to be streamed live on ESPN3 this fall in the lineup for the NCAA Division II Football Showcase.

“The collaboration with ESPN provides a continued opportunity to showcase Division II’s balanced student-athlete experience,” said Terri Steeb Gronau, vice president of Division II, in a press release earlier this afternoon. “The student-athletes who will be featured in these games have made incredible achievements on and off the field, and we’re excited to share their abilities with a broad national audience on ESPN3.”

This marks the first time in school history that Texan Football will be showcased on ESPN and the third time since February that Tarleton Athletics has been selected for a national live stream by the NCAA, joining basketball broadcasts on ESPN3 and the American Sports Network last spring.

“This is really exciting,” said head coach Todd Whitten. “The NCAA has been making great strides in recent years to highlight the excellent student-athletes we have in Division II and this is an incredible opportunity for us to represent Tarleton State University on a national stage. We’re looking forward to it and I know our players will be fired up for this opportunity.

Tarleton is in its second straight year and eighth overall under the leadership of Todd Whitten. The Texans went 5-6 last season in his return to the sideline and were competing for the Lone Star Conference as late as the final two games of the season. Tarleton fell to Kingsville 21-17 in a heartbreaker on homecoming night last season.

The game can be seen on ESPN3 courtesy of WatchESPN.com and the official ESPN App on any mobile device. The game will be a live video stream, so high-speed internet connection will be required.
