In bracket play at Buffalo Harriman Park, they beat 12th-seeded Bruceville-Eddy and Kemp before falling to Eustace in the semifinal round. Mexia topped Eustace for the championship. Scores were not posted for bracket play.
The 4-2 record at the HSE tournament comes after the Dublin Yankees 15U team followed back-to-back third-place finishes in 2015 and 2016 by tying for fifth this week in their state tournament.
Dublin High School baseball coach Kellen Cervetto applauds the coaches who volunteer their time leading these teams and helping to further establish the sport in Lion land.
“Those coaches are doing a great job of bluing our youth programs and instilling a positive work ethic and other intangibles in our kids. They’re just doing a great job of establishing baseball in Dublin,” Cervetto said. “We’ve had a couple good years with the varsity now, and obviously we want to keep the at going. It’s kind of a fever that everyone is catching over here, and hopefully there are more good years to come.”
