STEPHENVILLE (September 1, 2017) – The Stephenville Downtown Merchants are hosting their first monthly farmer’s market tomorrow morning. From 9 a.m. to noon, locals can come purchase locally grown plants and produce at the Downtown Plaza.
“This is something people have asked for,” Blue Eyed Buffalo owner Kaylee Pemberton said. “It’s a way to support downtown and support local. It’s a way to keep Stephenville alive.”
In case of rain, the farmer’s market will be moved to the City Park pavilion. But, according to the National Weather Service, Saturday morning is expected to be sunny with no chance of storms until after 1 p.m.
This farmer’s market will be the first of three this fall. The second farmer’s market will be on Oct. 7, and the third farmer’s market will be on Nov. 4 at the same time and location.
For now, the farmer’s market is limited to items such as vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, grains, plants, eggs, honey and jams, but more options will be considered after this season’s markets.
“We want it to be a true farmer’s market this year,” Pemberton said.
