TexAnns leap eight spots in volleyball rankings

STEPHENVILLE (September 5, 2017) – Tarleton’s record start to the 2017 season has vaulted the TexAnns into the national top 20 in the latest rankings by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Tarleton is No. 17 in the newest poll.

The TexAnns swept the 2017 Tarleton Invitational, including straight-set victories over then-No. 23 Rockhurst and then-No. 18 Central Oklahoma. It’s the first time in program history Tarleton has opened the season with four straight match sweeps.

Tarleton is one of two Lone Star Conference schools in the national top 25 as Angelo State, who also went 4-0 in their home tournament last weekend, moved from No. 9 to No. 6. Central Oklahoma fell one spot to No. 19 while Rockhurst fell two spots to No. 25 after their respective losses to Tarleton.

Central Missouri, who is Tarleton’s next opponent, moved up five spots from No. 21 to No. 16. The TexAnns and Jennies will take the court in Denver, Colorado this Friday at 12 p.m. CST in the Colorado Premier Challenge.

Tarleton was led to victory last weekend by four all-tournament selections, including Co-MVPs Jordyn Keamo andHailey Roberts. Roberts landed 53 kills and boasted double-doubles against Rockhurst and UCO while Keamo dished out 117 assists and led Tarleton to a .273 hitting percentage as a team in 12 sets. Adriana Darthuy and Amber Strangealso had big weekends with 34 and 29 kills, respectively, to earn all-tournament status.
