(September 6, 2017) — Jocelyn Mims held off two Stephenville runners at the front and Glen Rose did the same in the team standings of the Dinosaur Valley Classic at Dinosaur Valley State Park Wednesday.

Mims and Glen Rose ran on their home course, while Stephenville and sixth-place Waxahachie Life took advantage of the opportunity to get familiar with the course where they will compete for the 8-4A district championship and spots at the Region I-4A meet.Just a freshman, Honeybee Presley Wall continues to stalk her first high school victory, but it didn’t come on Wednesday. Mims led Glen Rose and everyone in 11 minutes and 52.72 seconds, while Wall was second in 12:18.69. The young star had friendly company along side her throughout the journey, as Emily Kirbo finished third in 12:21.84.

When Alexis Mims came in fifth for glen Rose at 12:23.09, the Honeybees still maintained a one-point lead. But the narrow margin evaporated when Laura Ogletree and Avery Turner came in back to back in 12:38.37 and 12:40.61, giving 11th and 12th to the Lady Tigers with only one scorer remaining on the course.

Anahi Rivas came through at 13:01.33 and Jordan Beyer at 13:10.43, placing 16th and 17th for Stephenville, before 20th place Reagan Henry concluded the Bees’ scoring in 13:29.24. The math worked against Stephenville, though, despite the Bees being the firs team to have all five scorers across the finish line.

Even displacing runners Kassidy Nowak and Tania Arreguin, who were the next finishers in 21st and 22nd with times of 13:29.76 and 13:31.22 were done before Elizabeth Gutierrez concluded the Lady Tiger scoring in 23rd, but it was too little, too late.
