Coaches poll ranks Tarleton men 10th in cross country region

Stephenville (September 19. 2017) — After a hot start to the 2017 season, the Texan Cross Country team came in at No. 10 in the latest regional poll for the South Central Region released by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) this week.

Tarleton finished first-place at the Rebel Invite in the non-division I field last weekend. The men came away with 20 points in the 6,000-meter course. Justin Botello had the top finish for the Texans coming in sixth-place with a time of 17:59.50 followed by Johen DeLeon finishing 12th in 18:23.80. Jarred Elizondo came in 16th with a time of 18:34.20 and Michael Simcho placed 19th in 18:42.30. Quenten Lasseter (18:46.20), Kyle Doty (19:17.30), andJoshua Perez (20:08.20) finished the course 21st, 25th, and 29th for Tarleton.

The Texans are one of two LSC teams to make the regional rankings with West Texas A&M checking in at seventh.

Tarleton will travel to College Station this weekend and compete in the Aggie Open on Friday.
