STEPHENVILLE (October 7, 2017) – Tarleton’s season-high winning streak has moved to eight after the No. 15 TexAnns powered past Midwestern State in four sets on ‘Pink Out’ day Saturday afternoon.

The Mustangs came out swinging in the opening set and found themselves on top 1-0 in the match after a 25-22 victory, but Tarleton answered back in dominant fashion as the TexAnns kept the Mustangs in single digits for the length of the second set.

The set opened with things in a 7-7 tie before Darthuy landed a kill that started an 18-2, set-clinching run for Tarleton. Over that surge, Tarleton’s Jordyn Keamo enjoyed serving up seven consecutive points – highlighted by two aces – before Darthuy put the set away by serving up the final five – also with a pair of aces mixed in – to deliver a 25-9 victory.

In the third set, an early service error and a kill from Chandler Gow put Tarleton up 6-5 and the TexAnns never looked back. Those two points started a 14-6 Tarleton run to put the TexAnns up 19-12. Midwestern State pulled as close as four, but a Mustang attack error put the stamp on the set for Tarleton at 25-19.

Another dominant run for Tarleton iced the four-set win as the set opened up in a 13-13 tie over the first 26 points before a kill from Amber Strange started a match-clinching 12-2 run for the TexAnns. Over the run, Alissa Johnson served up six straight points on one error, kills from Alexis Applewhite, Camryn Berryhill, and Strange, and a pair of blocks from Strange and Applewhite.

Then Strange served up three straight before a Mustang error ended the match in Tarleton’s favor. Including the points from her serves, Strange had a hand in six of Tarleton’s final 10 points.

Adriana Darthuy led the team with 16 kills on a .268 hitting clip while Strange added 10 kills at a .333 percentage. Strange also had seven blocks while Darthuy boasted a double-double performance with 11 digs.

Jordyn Keamo also had a double-double as the senior totaled 30 assists and 13 digs. Adrianna Knutson led the team with 21 digs while Michaela Rodriguez also cracked double digits with 12.

Tarleton will hit the road next weekend as the TexAnns make the New Mexico road trip of the Lone Star Conference schedule, beginning Friday at Eastern New Mexico at 7 p.m. CST.
