(Octobre 9, 2017) — The transformation of Dublin’s cross country programs took another giant leap forward Monday when the Lions won the boys 6-3A district championship in dominating fashion with three of the top seven finishers on their way to just 38 points.

The Lions had their remaining two scoring runners (top five) come through in the top 15, scoring barley half the 70 points accumulated by second-place Brady.

Brent Stephen and Angel Escobar were third and fourth across the line in 17:46.71 and 18:13.58 to make the Lions the first team with two finishers. A little more than two minutes later, the race was a blowout with Dublin sending five runners to the finish before any other team had a fourth across the line.

Tim Teten was seventh in 18:51.72, Daniel Escobar 11th in 19:17.51 and Fidel Acosta 13th in 19:25.84 to round out the cumulative scoring. Just to further their show of dominance, both Dublin displacement runners were in the top 20, with Blake Stephenville finishing 16th in 19:34.04 and Nabor Calderon 19th in 19:56.83.

Dublin sends the entire team on to the RegionI 6-3A championships. The Region I meets for all conferences are Ocrtober 23 at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock.
