STEPHENVILLE (October 11, 2017) – After Bygone Days on the Bosque this Saturday, locals can celebrate more local history at Sundown on the Square. In honor of Tarleton’s Centennial, this year’s event will focus on TSU. Sundown on the Square will be downtown from 5 until 9 p.m.
This year’s event will host a wide variety of activities including wine tasting, art exhibits, dancing, vendors, a kids’ zone and more.
“This whole thing started as something to do on the square for the community,” coordinator Metta Collier said. “It’s an event to bring people together.”
Most activities and vendors will have prices based on tickets, which can be purchased for two dollars apiece. A percentage of proceeds from these sales will go to Sundown on the Square. Other events, such as the art exhibits and the street dance, are free.
The street dance will feature musicians CB Sutton and The Outcast Band, Randall King and the Tejas Brothers.
Vendors will be located around the square, and local businesses will be open as well.
A TSU historical exhibit will be located in the Erath County Courthouse atrium. The TSU alumni art exhibit will display artwork by Dr. Mark Davis and Liz Meiron.
The “kids’ zone” will include a bounce house, “Oscar P” Duck Pond, color station, golf challenge and more. A wristband can be purchased for three tickets in order to participate and is good for the entire evening.
Money raised by Sundown on the Square will go to the renovation of the John Tarleton Ranch House at the Stephenville Historical House Museum.
