DUBLIN (October 19, 2017) – The Dublin ISD school board approved the hiring of new dance instructor, Crysta Fort,  after an executive session on Monday night. The board also approved the track construction, amended the 2017-2018 budget and recognized several students.

The board approved the bid from Hellas Construction for a $1.3 million track. The track will be eight lanes and will have the same surface as Abilene Christian University’s track. The district is currently working with local vendors to redevelop the practice field.

Because the bid came in at $300,000 more than expected, the board voted to amend the budget to accommodate for the extra expense. The board originally estimated the track project would cost $1 million. They also added $55,000 to the budget for teacher computers.

This month the school board recognized a new group of students — the “Lion Leaders” at the elementary school. This month’s Lion Leaders are pre-K students, Ezequiel Garcia and Abigail Ratliff, kindergarten students Renesmee George and Samuel Minor, first grade students Ryder Caldera and Tylor Nail, second grade students Anabelle Delgado and Tanis Hutchinson and third grade students Kenna Harris and Micky Resendiz. Academic scholars are Hailey Blackwell and Miguel Felipe. Athletic scholars are Makaylie Garcia, Juan Garcia, Joley Chisholm and Brent Stephen. Extracurricular scholars are Legend Brown and Samantha Calderon.

Next month’s school board meeting is canceled.
