Davis is in his fifth year out of Texas Tech and was seeing more playing time than ever before. He made two starts this season, including when the Rams beat the Dallas Cowboys in Arlington.

Myles Simmons, a writer for TheRams.com, the official website of the team, reported that Davis “has played well in the Rams’ new defensive scheme, recording an interception, a pair of pass breakups and 22 total tackles in 2017.”

It’s possible Davis will not return at all this season. The report by Simmons says new IR rules allow teams to activate two players from injury reserve, but not until they have been on the list eight weeks. If he does return, it would be in the final week of the regular season.

Davis a was a three-time all-state defensive back at Stephenville High School and r returns each summer to host his Cody Davis Student of the Game Camp, a one-day football camp free to youth. An outspoken supporter of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Davis donates monthly to Cross Timbers FCA and Texas Tech FCA. He also supports Big Brothers, and Big Sisters, and made public appearances for both in Stephenville last summer. He has an advertising deal with the Bruner Auto Family, which boasts it is “The official truck dealer of Cody Davis.”

Davis and his wife, Ashley, are parents of toddler son Kane.
