We live in a world surrounded by technology. And we know that whatever field our students choose to go into as adults, their ability to succeed will increasingly depend on understanding how technology works.

While fewer than half of our country’s schools teach computer science, here in Stephenville, we’re proud to say we do.  Not only did we recently introduce coding curriculum at Henderson and SHS, but we are embarking on a coordinated event beginning this next week.

Our iCHAMPIONS will join in on the largest learning event in history, The Hour of Code, on four of our campuses.

We’d love for you to join us at one or more of the events and support our students and teachers as we iCHAMPION FOR THE FUTURE.

Friday, December 8th

HOOK ELEMENTARY will host Hour of Code from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.

GILBERT INTERMEDIATE will hold opportunities to develop coding skills with Minecraft throughout the day in a variety of classes beginning at 7:50 a.m. and ending at 3:25 p.m.

HENDERSON JR. HIGH will explore Swift in Technology Applications classes throughout the day, 8:00-9:40am, 10:40am – 12:20pm and 12:55 – 2:35 pm.

Wednesday, December 13

STEPHENVILLE HIGH SCHOOL will host Hour of Code from 8:40 – 9:10 am. All students and faculty will navigate the challenge of building their own version of the app-based game “Flappy Bird.”

Thank you for the opportunity to communicate this coordinated endeavor!

Sincerely,

Matt Underwood

Superintendent

Stephenville ISD
