(December 9, 2017) — Luke Brown and Jake Long enjoyed something special Saturday night, something they have done before but certainly know to never take for granted.

They rode a victory lap around the Thomas & Mack Center during the National Finals Rodeo.

So did Jacobs Crawley, the world leader in saddle bronc riding, and Timber Moore in the calf roping. Those four local athletes alone combined to earn more than $100,000 on a night when competitors from Erath County and the immediate area combined for almost $180,000. The 24 athletes from or tied to the Cowboy Capital of the World have earned more than $400,000 at the NFR.

And they are just now through Round 3, with the biggest single week in professional rodeo beginning Sunday with round 4 and concluding next Saturday, December 16, with the 10th round and crowning of the 2017 NFR average champions, world champions and all-around cowboy.
