Funeral services for Wanda June Smith, 87, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Lacy Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Ken May officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at Lacy Funeral Home. Arrangements are by Lacy Funeral Home.
Wanda was born in Kennett, Missouri, on June 12, 1930, to Bernice (Selby) and Clyde Berry. She married Williams E. (Bill) Smith, Jr., on March 11, 1996, in Abilene, Texas. Wanda was a homemaker who spent most of her life raising her six children until she went into the field of banking. She became very successful and was an active leader at local and state levels. She served as the Regional Membership Chairman at the National Level of Financial Women International from 1981 to 1982. She was inducted into the Texas Financial Women’s Hall of Fame in 1991. Wanda ended her career in banking when she retired from Comerica Bank in Dallas, Texas, in 1994.
Wanda was a member of the First Baptist Church in Stephenville, Texas.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Smith of Stephenville, Texas; children, Vanessa Halford and husband, David, of Stephenville, Texas, Berry Bishop and wife, Laurie, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Eric Smith and wife, Ana, of Denton, Texas, Lee Flowers and husband, Kelly, of The Woodlands, Texas, Bill Haggard and wife, Judy, of Rowlett, Texas, and Carl Haggard and wife, Randi, of Paris, Texas; eighteen grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by two children, Leslie Pope in 2003 and Alice Church in 2017.
Memorials can be made to the American Heart Association or Breast Cancer Research.
