The TexAnns pounded out 15 hits, including three-hit performances from Georgia CapellMeghann Wrinkle, and Marisa Flores, for a 14-6 victory over West Texas A&M at Schaeffer Park.

Tarleton got on the board first when Capell led off the game with a single and came around to score on a WT throwing error. After WT answered with two in their half of the first, Tarleton answered two innings later with a two spot of their own when Capell teed off for a two-run blast to put the TexAnns on top 3-2.

The Lady Buffs retook the lead with two in the fourth, but Tarleton pulled away with 10 unanswered runs in the fifth and sixth.

The TexAnns scored two in the fifth when Meghann Wrinkle drove in a pair with a two-RBI double to the right-center gap. Tarleton kept it going in the sixth, beginning with another error from WT to open the flood gates.

Flores scored the first run of the sixth on an error then Capell followed up with an RBI double to center. Tarleton continued scoring off Lady Buff errors to the tune of an eight-run inning. After WT got two back in the sixth, Wrinkle added an RBI triple in the seventh for the final TexAnn run of the game.

Capell and Wrinkle each boasted three RBI on top of their three-hit performances. Wood and Wrinkle had two hits each while Kadyn Kirkpatrick and Elizabeth Svienty had one hit each to round out the 15-hit attack.

A solo home run from Georgia Capell in the top of the seventh tied things up late, but a walk-off shot from West Texas A&M was the final blow as the Lady Buffs split the twin bill and took the series 2-1.

While WT put up two spots in each of the first two innings, Tarleton tacked on one each over the first three on a Megan Durante RBI single in the first, a Lexi Grimaldo home run in the second, and a Georgia Capell home run in the third to bring the score to 4-3, which it stayed until the seventh.

Capell struck again in the seventh when she turned around an 0-2 pitch for her second home run of the game to tie things up at 4-4, but WT had an answer in their half of the seventh with a walk-off two-run home run.

Tarleton had 10 hits for the game, led by three-hit games from Capell and Tanna Huie in the top two spots of the lineup, and one hit each from Nyka Wood, Durante, Wrinkle, and Grimaldo the rest of the way.

Rosewell and Haley Freyman combined for one inning before giving way to Withrow out of the bullpen for the final five innings. The sophomore struck out six and gave up two runs.

Tarleton will return home for a three-game league series against Cameron in Stephenville next weekend, beginning Friday at 7 p.m.
