Stephenville’s offense looked like it was ready to take off last week, but a dominant pitching performance by Iowa Park left the Yellow Jackets with just three hits in a 5-1 district Road loss Thursday.
Cody Storrs provided the only run for the Yellow Jackets in the third inning. Storrs’ ground ball was bobbled by the third baseman and he was able to reach first via a throwing error. The error was the only one against Iowa Park and Storrs made the most of it stealing third base and later home plate.
Mason Castleberry got the start for the Jackets on the mound and recorded four strikeouts and only one earned run. Zane Smith allowed one hit over the final two inning while striking out two.
Daniel Luna (2B), Derek Gifford (2B) and Trevor Easter (1B) provided the Jackets with their three-hit effort.
Stephenville returns to action Tuesday when they host Glen Rose in a 7 p.m. contest at James T. Young Field.
