STEPHENVILLE (April 2, 2018) – The Stephenville Evening Lions Club will be hosting its 23rd Upland Bird Extravaganza Saturday, April 7, giving locals a chance to help raise funds, show off your shotguns skills and gear up for the following weekend’s wild game dinner.

The event is being held at Lone Star Sporting Clays just north of Glen Rose and featured custom-designed courses by National Sporting Clays Hall of Famer Mike Lewellen.

The courses have been designed to allow competition for all levels of shooters and the events will also include Snooker, Corporate 5 Stand, Open Sporting Clays and Open 5 Stand.

All proceeds raised go toward helping Erath County youth organizations through the Stephenville Evening Lions Club.

The event is open to shooters of all skill levels. Saturday’s event will get underway at 8 a.m. and all observers will need to wear hearing protection past the marked signs. Lunch will be served on site.

There will be limited opportunities for re-shoots, $25 for 5 Stand and $75 for Sporting Clay. For additional information call event coordinator Daryl Salyards at 817-905-3213.

The Evening Lions Club Upland Bird Extravaganza Wild Game Dinner and Auction will be hosted Friday, April 13, at City Hall at City Limits in Stephenville.

Every year’s menu changes a little every year depending on the harvest and the tables can have everything from wild pig to squirrel for diners to try.

The event gets underway at 5 p.m. Below are some scenes from last year’s event shot by Russell Huffman.
