STEPHENVILLE (April 10, 2018) – Stephenville’s hitting onslaught continued Tuesday night with a nine-hit fest that fueled an 8-3 District 8-4A win over Midlothian Heritage at James T. Young Field.
The Yellow Jackets got a dominating performance from Caleb Smith on the mound as he hurled three-hit ball and went the distance. Smith issued only one walk and didn’t allow an earned run.
The win is payback after a Stephenville dropped their first contest against Heritage 6-4 and after a wild fifth inning, it wasn’t going to be close.
The Jackets took advantage of a pair of errors sandwiched around a 2-2 count RBI single from Cade Dunavent and a first-pitch RBI single by Gage Graham.
Gabe Moore and Trevor Easter had the hottest bats for the Jackets as they went 2-2 at the plate with a pair of singles each. The Jackets’ hit-and-run ballgame included singles by Dunavent, Derek Gifford, Mason Castleberry, Tyler Reed and Graham.
Dunavent, Easter, Reed, and Graham had one RBI each. The Jackets’ runs were scored by Castleberry who recorded two while Dunavent, Krause, Gifford, Easter, Moore, and Graham had one run scored each.
Stephenville travels to Alvarado to see if it can keep its winning streak going after a run differential of 21-4 in two games. Friday’s game is set for 7 p.m. against the Indians. Stephenville returns home for an April 17 game against Godley at 7 p.m.
