Honeybees drop seeding game 4-2 against Venus, Godley on tap Monday

The Honeybees managed just three hits and scored two runs in a 4-2 seeding game loss to Venus in Glen Rose Saturday. The loss puts Stephenville into a seeding game against Godley in Glen Rose Monday at 5:30 p.m.

Venus, Stephenville and Godley finished up district play at 8-4 overall and all knotted up for the district’s number-two playoff spot and Monday’s battle will determine who will represent third and fourth.

Venus’ Kaylee Davis dominated the diamond as she struck out 19 batters, Davis the 117 pitches and 82 of them were for strikes.

Stephenville countered with Julia Flores who issued seven strikeouts while giving up five hits and three earned runs.

Morgan DiCiccio smacked a triple for the Honeybees and reached home in with a spectacular slide to score. Samantha Luna and Flores picked up the remainder of Stephenville’s hits. Madison Gilder got the other run for Stephenville in the first inning after reaching via a walk and later scoring.
