TexAnn Golf remains at No. 4 in region rankings, already have spot secured with LSC title

STEPHENVILLE – No. 13 Tarleton women’s golf remains fourth in the West Regional Rankings released by the NCAA on Thursday and guaranteed themselves a trip to the regional tournament by winning the Lone Star Conference title earlier this week.

Dallas Baptist sits atop the rankings for the third week in a row, followed by Cal State San Marcos in second and California Baptist in third ahead of the TexAnns. Tarleton is the highest seeded Lone Star Conference team in the West region. West Texas A&M (5) and Midwestern State (10) are the other two LSC representatives.

The NCAA West Regional Tournament will be held May 7-9 at the Hillcrest Golf Club in Durango, Colorado. The NCAA regional tournament is made up of 12 teams. In addition to the 12 teams, the top six individuals from non-qualifying teams will compete in the regional.

The TexAnns have qualified for the NCAA Regional Tournament in 10 of the last 11 years and have won an LSC record nine regional championships.

No. 13 Tarleton continued its run of dominance in the Lone Star Conference by winning an LSC record 11th conference championship in record-setting fashion last week. The TexAnns shattered the LSC record for the lowest team score in a 36-hole tournament, shooting a 571 (+3). The old conference record – set by the TexAnns in 2009 – was 585. Tarleton had rounds of 285 (+1) and 286 (+2). It’s the third straight LSC championship by the TexAnns and 10th in the last 11 seasons.

The official announcement of the NCAA regional tournament field will be announced at 2 p.m. CT on Monday, April 30. Tarleton received an automatic berth into the regional by winning the LSC Tournament title.
